It's warmer on the ice...
MACLEODSHIELD Ltd sponsored a thermal insulation test this month that was carried out by The Building Research Establishment (BRE). The test was to determine exactly how well MacLeod IceShield™ insulates the atmosphere from the cold ice underneath the flooring system. Initial tests at Nottingham National Ice Arena were encouraging when it was found that the temperature underneath the floor was -10 ˚C (14 ˚F) while the top surface remained a comfortable 7 ˚C (45 ˚F). The results of the BRE test have now provided Macleodshield with U and R Values for comparison with other systems. Iceshield was found to have a U-Value of 1.09 and an R-Value of 5.229 which has proved to be the best insulation value on the market (closest competitors floors have a typical R Value of 4 and below). Along with fire rating by Warrington Fire Research and Load and anti-slip tests by RAPRA, the insulation test completes an impressive portfolio of certification for the Iceshield system and continues Macleodshield's commitment to setting independent testing standards for the temporary flooring industry. |
